Welcome to 2018, which promises to be another big year of economic growth and development in the Scenic Rim region.
Despite the negative impacts of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie, 2017 was a strong year for this region, with new business and innovation, and Council is committed to maintaining this momentum.
This is an important time for our region to continue to build on its recent strong economic performance. As a Council, we will continue to support the strong pillars for economic progress, particularly through our investment in roads and bridges which represent key economic corridors and connections.
This year offers an opportunity for businesses to capitalise on our Scenic Rim brand which increasingly is drawing international interest.
A trap for any business is to be so focused on day-to-day operations that there is little planning for tomorrow. I believe every business should be looking ahead with a focus on new skills to be ready to take full advantage of new and emerging markets, whether through export opportunities or inbound tourism from diverse Asian cultures.
Consider whether your business is set up for a successful 2018, with this month’s newsletter providing a step-by-step guide to help you set and achieve your business goals.
I wish you every success for the year ahead.

Mayor, Scenic Rim Regional Council
