Tinamba Turf is the 2019 Scenic Rim Business of the Year.
The long-serving local company was recognised in front of more than 230 guests at the sold out Scenic Rim Business Excellence Awards on 29 March at The Centre, Beaudesert.
The prestigious Trainee/Apprentice of the Year award went to 16-year-old Max Patterson of Canungra business Hobbs Building & Interiors.
The six category winners were:

- Excellence in Tourism, Accommodation & Hospitality: Mt Barney Lodge
- Excellence in Retail: Outland Denim
- Excellence in Trades & Construction: Hobbs Building & Interiors
- Excellence in Agriculture: Summer Land Camels
- Excellence in Transport, Logistics, Manufacturing & Mining: Tinamba Turf
The winners came from a record field of 71 nominations from 51 businesses in the Scenic Rim.
Mayor Greg Christensen welcomed Minister for Employment and Small Business and Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman, Member for Wright Scott Buchholz and Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause to the awards, which celebrated the businesses driving the region’s economic growth.
Household name Heather Foord was MC at the business community’s night of nights, where businesses had the rare opportunity to mingle and network with their local industry counterparts.
Guests dined on local cuisine prepared by Scenic Rim Regional Food Ambassador Kate Raymont of The Vintage Pickle around tables adorned with unique pumpkin bouquets from Canungra florist Samantha Dusting of Lydia’s Garden.
Cr Christensen said the calibre of nominations was high.
“I have been inspired by the stories behind so many of these businesses which go above and beyond to deliver the highest levels of customer service while adding value to our regional economy, contributing to its strong trajectory of growth, and providing local employment opportunities for members of our communities,” he said.
“In making their decision, the judges considered a range of factors including businesses’ outstanding customer service, environmental awareness, understanding of their target markets, well-defined and understood business strategy, rigorous systems, effective risk management, financial performance and a clear commitment to excellence in all facets of their operation.”
