We are experiencing an important milestone in the Scenic Rim’s journey, as we develop our region’s first integrated planning scheme.
The final draft of this scheme, which will replace the existing planning schemes of the former Beaudesert Shire, Boonah Shire and Ipswich City Council areas in our local government area, is now out for consultation.
This is a valuable opportunity for you to help shape the future of our region and I encourage you to get in and have your say before Monday, 30 September on changes made to the draft.
As well as working on our first integrated planning scheme, we are continuing to realign Council to provide more pragmatic, customer-focused outcomes.
Through our Refresh and Refocus program, we have brought our internal planning team and operational works team together to streamline the process of reviewing and communicating with people about their approvals. This will ultimately result in greater clarity for all parties involved.
We have identified that this is so important for our business community as we continue to work with you all to ensure the Scenic Rim is a great place to do business.
The Scenic Rim’s national ‘Outstanding Region’ win at the prestigious delicious. Produce Awards is yet another confirmation of what our region is capable of through the incredible people in our local food sector.
The Scenic Rim is a region that punches above its weight. For the size of our population, we are incredibly rich in thought leaders and industry leaders in a whole range of sectors.
The win for our food sector at the delicious. Produce Awards is just one of many awards for our region recently. This month we also celebrate awards in our retail and building and construction industries.
Investing in regional skills
As a region we have so many ‘best in class’ thought leaders, as evidenced by the suite of recent awards.
Through the Regional Skills Investment Strategy, which we’re delivering in partnership with the Queensland Government, we are harnessing that spirit of excellence for the good of our region.
Who better than our local industry leaders to lead the way in developing more high quality employment outcomes for our children?
If you’re a local employer and you have not yet enquired about accessing the opportunities available through this program, I urge you to contact Mitch Ryan in Council’s Economic Development team on 5540 5111.
