SOILCO’s Bromelton Facility Progresses in the Scenic Rim

SOILCO is making Bromelton the home of its next large-scale compost manufacturing facility. A family-founded business with over 50 years of organics recycling experience, their team is looking forward to becoming a long-term local business that invests in the local community.

Development of SOILCO’s Bromelton Compost Manufacturing Facility continues to advance, with key infrastructure works now completed at the new intersection of Mitchell Road and Beaudesert-Boonah Road.

Located just outside of Beaudesert at the Bromelton State Development Area, their facility represents a significant investment in the region’s circular economy and future resource recovery capability. Once operational, the facility will be capable of receiving and processing up to 400,000 tonnes of material annually, including composting up to 250,000 tonnes of source-separated organics. Material that would otherwise be sent to landfill will instead be transformed into high-quality compost, mulch and soil products for use in agriculture, landscaping, land rehabilitation, and local residents’ gardens.

The project has been developed to help meet the growing demand for organics recycling infrastructure across South-East Queensland. As councils and communities introduce and expand their organics collection services, access to large-scale processing capacity will play a critical role in supporting the State’s waste reduction and resource recovery objectives.

Beyond its environmental benefits, the Bromelton facility is expected to contribute to regional economic growth by creating local employment opportunities during construction with over 120 jobs and more to follow once operation commences. This new location will also support a range of local suppliers and service providers.
